Your Ultimate Guide to Perfect Brows: Microblading, Nanoblading, Combo Brows & Eyebrow Tattoo FAQs

WHAT IS MICROBLADING (EYEBROW EMBROIDERY, EYEBROW ETCHING, ETC.)?

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo in the brow that is applied by hand (no machine). Safe, tested EU approved pigments are deposited into the very outer layer of skin with very small, individual, feathered strokes that perfectly mimic eyebrow hair. The result is a very natural looking, well shaped, fuller brow that you won’t have to fill in with cosmetics everyday.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NANOBLADING AND MICROBLADING?

While MicroBlading uses thin needles to create hair-like strokes, we offer NanoBlading (Nano Brows) which involves the use of even finer needles, resulting in more precise and delicate strokes. NanoBlading (Nano Brows) often boasts superior color retention, making touch-ups less frequent, and is gentler on the skin, reducing discomfort and healing time. Because nanoblading has so much more benefits than traditional microblading, we only use nanoblading for our hairstroke brow services.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

The pigment used in this procedure is semi-permanent, so effects of the procedure typically lasts up to 12 months or longer. Because of the unique qualities of each individual’s skin and lifestyles, we are unable to guarantee how long your results will last. You will likely need a touchup within 12-24 months to keep the color looking fresh. Keep in mind that semi-permanent means that the color will dull over time, however this does not mean that it will completely disappear. There will always be a trace of pigment in your skin, and touch ups are required to keep your brows looking their best.

HOW IS THE MICROBLADING PROCEDURE PERFORMED?

The procedure is done using a hand tool, with a prepackaged, sterile, single use “blade” made up of a grouping of needles that are 3x smaller than the needles that would be used in a traditional tattoo machine. With the appropriate amount of pressure, the skin is scored and the pigment is deposited into the epidermis (outermost layer of skin). Think painless paper-cuts filled with pigment resulting in hair like strokes in your skin!

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

Your first appointment will take between 1.5-2 hours, as plenty of time will be taken to assure that we have created the shape you desire before the procedure is performed. Your second appointment (6 week touch up) will be between 1-1.5 hours.

DOES MICROBLADING HURT?

Each individual will have a different experience with the level of discomfort associated with the service. Some say it is relaxing and they only feel the pressure being applied. Others say it feels about as uncomfortable as tweezing. Still there are some who will feel that it is more uncomfortable. Two topical anesthetics are used to ensure your comfort level during the procedure. One is applied 15 minutes prior to beginning the procedure and the second is applied throughout the entire procedure.

IS THE PIGMENT USED DURING THE PROCEDURE SAFE?

Yes. We use Li Pigments which provide a high level of safety and a minimal health risk for our clients. Li Pigments has completed the testing of over 93 different substances and compounds as it relates to Certification within the EU. The testing includes carcinogenic compounds, colorants, and metals causing allergies and irritations of the skin.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME LIKE?

When you leave from your appointment your brow area may appear pink, and the pigment itself will seem darker than you may prefer. The day after your appointment few people would notice anything unusual. Throughout the healing process (1-2 weeks) they will slowly fade to a softer, more natural shade, but they will not be unpresentable. Please refrain from having microblading done before going on a beach vacation or a camping trip.

WHY DO I NEED A PERFECTING SESSION 6 WEEKS AFTER MY FIRST SESSION?

The 6 week perfecting session is required to darken any strokes that need to be, and even out any small imperfections that can come about as result of the healing process.

HOW OFTEN CAN I GET TOUCH UPS?

As often as you would like, as long as 6 weeks has passed since your last appointment. You most likely won’t want or need a touchup until at least 8 months have passed. After this initial perfecting touch up, An annual touch up is recommended every 10-18 months to keep your brows looking optimal.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE SHAPE?

We choose the shape of your new brows together. Whether you are just looking to enhance the fullness of your natural brow, correct asymmetry, or you have no brows whatsoever, we will take it one step at a time. Your new shape will be applied with a cosmetic pencil first so that you can see how it will look on your face. We then use software if needed to ensure they match one another and are just perfect. We will not start the procedure until you are happy with the design we create together.

WILL MY BROWS LOOK FAKE?

No, not with our Brow Building method. Because individual strokes are made to closely mimic natural brow hair, most of the time the results are soft and natural at first, and then at your perfecting touch up session we can go bolder and add some soft shading if our client desires.

WILL MY BROWS FADE?

Yes, microblading does fade over time, but not completely. It is designed as a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure, meaning that the pigments used are intended to gradually fade as the skin naturally exfoliates and the body metabolizes the pigments. Typically, microblading lasts between 12 to 18 months. However, there will always be a trace of pigment in the skin and won't fade 100%. Individual experiences with fading can differ, and touch-ups may be required to maintain the desired appearance.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE MY BROWS AFTER THIS PROCEDURE?

Keep in mind that your brows will appear darker for the first couple of weeks than they will once they have healed. Once they have healed, we can fix any minor imperfections during your 6 week touch up appointment. We do offer saline removal, which involves a process of tattooing a specialized solution in the skin to lift pigment. If for whatever reason, you look at the mirror and hate what you see, we offer emergency removal...this will take out almost all of the pigment and it will be as if nothing was ever tattooed in!

CAN I HAVE THIS PROCEDURE DONE IF I HAVE NO BROW HAIR AT ALL?

Absolutely, this is a great option for those who suffer from Alopecia, Trichotillomania, or have been through Chemotherapy. Microblading can even correct past wax catastrophe, over tweezing, or the normal hair thinning that occurs post menopause.

CAN I HAVE THIS SERVICE DONE IF I AM PREGNANT?

No, this service is not for those who are pregnant and or breastfeeding.

Reasons Include:

Increased Risk of Infection: Pregnancy and breastfeeding can make a woman's body more susceptible to infections. Microblading involves making small incisions in the skin, which, although minimal, still carry a risk of infection. This risk is heightened during pregnancy and nursing because the immune system is naturally suppressed to protect the developing baby.

Hormonal Changes: Pregnancy triggers significant hormonal changes that can affect skin sensitivity and healing. These changes can lead to unpredictable results from microblading, such as uneven pigment absorption or increased skin sensitivity, which could result in adverse reactions.

Potential Impact on the Baby: There is limited research on the effects of microblading pigments on pregnant or nursing women and their babies. Concerns exist about whether any pigments or anesthetic creams used during the procedure could enter the bloodstream and potentially affect the baby
